Is Herdy free to use?

Browsing rides and creating an account is completely free.

When you book a ride, you pay the driver’s share of the trip costs plus a small service fee of 15% (minimum $1.50). This helps us keep Herdy secure, reliable, and continuously improving.

Posting a ride as a driver is free — you simply receive payment when others join your trip.

How does payment work?

When you request a booking, you enter your card details and authorise the payment — your card is not charged immediately.

You are only charged if the driver accepts your booking. Once accepted, the payment is securely held and released to the driver 1 week after the ride date. This short delay allows time to manage any disputes if needed.

All payments are processed securely via Stripe.

Is Herdy safe?

Safety is at the heart of Herdy. All users verify their phone number and email when registering. Optional identity verification is also available to build additional trust within the community.

Every ride includes ratings and reviews, helping everyone make informed decisions. You can also message drivers before booking to make sure the trip is right for you.

Can I cancel?

Yes. You can cancel at any time directly from the app.

If you cancel, you’ll receive a full refund (and if a driver cancels, you also receive a full refund including the service fee).

We aim to keep things fair and transparent for everyone.

What if there are no rides on my route?

If there are no rides available for your route and date, you can set up a ride alert.

Simply enter the route and travel date you’re looking for, and we’ll notify you via push notification and email as soon as a matching ride is posted.
